Sourav Ganguly is considered as one of the weak links in Team India fielding, but in the former captain's dictionary being fit does not mean running hard and having a tone-up body.

For the Ganguly, cricketing fitness is much different from general fitness, and cricketers do not need that level of fitness commonly understood in general parlance.

"Fitness is a relative term. I mean to say that it does not necessarily mean that one who runs hard and lifts weights is fit. Cricketing fitness is different. So if you can perform means you are fit," he said.

Ganguly described India ODI captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni taking a sabbatical from cricket for a while is a right decision considering his multiple responsibility. "It's a personal decision taken by Dhoni. I have no right to make any opinion on this. But obviously he is a bit busy in the game because he is a batsman as well as a wicket-keeper and of course the captain. He has to play multiple roles in the team. So a huge responsibility rests on his shoulders. Hence he is right to take care of his body," he told Sahara Samayi.

The Kolkata southpaw attributed his strong self-belief as reason behind the comeback he made after being in the wilderness for a while.

"... if you go on playing for a long time, you get more and more determined, you gain self- belief. So when you are out of the squad, you know you have performed at this level, you can still do it and when you get the opportunity, you translate that self- belief into performance," he said.

Asked how much cricket he thought is left in him, Ganguly made his point forcefully, saying, "I cannot tell you how much, but this game is obviously performance oriented. So as long as you can perform, you can play. No matter how old you are. The game is won on the basis of performance."

On how he would deal with mystery Sri Lankan spinner Ajantha Mendis in the Tests series starting from July 23, he said, "No doubt he is a very good bowler. He bowled really well in the Asia Cup, he also played in the IPL, I have played him in the nets as he was in my team. He is obviously different from other spinners."

"But, as players will keep playing him, they will get used to his action and in test cricket you have ample time to get settled. "

"Still I think that Murali is a bigger threat than him."

Parenting is a term that many people do not care to learn too much. Many people feel they do helps their child to grow the right way. They don't take any extra effort to know more about the topic and they don't even realize if some mistakes are not corrected very early in their child's life, it would be hard or even impossible to correct them afterwards.

Motivating your child is one of the important aspect of parenting. If a child is not motivated from a very young age, he is more often prone to depression and anger even for small reasons. It can be very hard to rectify the mistake since age is something that never comes back once it is gone. Many parents never realize this in the early part of their child's life and by the time they realize this, it would be hard for them to turn around the child.

A child's character and behavior is decided by the situations and conditions that he is made to go through in his early part of life. This is the time parents should motivate your child to do better things which is in the right path. Although you can point out that being active improves your child's skills, this is not enough for the average child.

Every child is an individual and will respond to a different approach or mix of styles. Some need a great deal of praise but others react well to goal setting. You should be able to judge your child's skills and keep motivating to the extend that he needs. Encouraging your child to take up some kind of sport is one of the best ways to motivate your child.

While choosing some sport always make sure it’s fun, varying and goes with the taste of your children. Although we all hope that your children will shine in their endeavors, realistically, very few children become power athletes. As long as your children are enjoying taking part in sport and activity they will be fit, healthy and happy which is something we all wish for. It also helps them motivate them in other aspects of life especially coming in terms with losses, handling different situations and fighting hard to reach your goals.

In Sports, Physical Fitness is important. Physical fitness basically refers to a state of good health. Physical activity, proper diet and proper rest all together contribute in maintaining a state of good health. It includes cardiovascular endurance, muscular Strength, flexibility and the composition of body.

Getting involved in sports can help your child have better health conditions and thus maintain physical fitness. This reduces chances of a heart disease, gives relief to stress, helps to control weight, healthy bones, muscles and joints and reduced symptoms of depression. In short, it reduces the number of visits to the physician.
