Every owner of a website on planet Earth knows that getting a constant flow of traffic is the key to making money online. The world wide web attracts such a massive number of buyers that regardless of what you sell, you will make some really good money when you have lots of traffic.

Internet marketers are constantly coming up with newer ways to expand their reach across the Internet because no website can survive without enough specific traffic. In their quest to obtain more of the elusive traffic, the website marketers have come up with some rather creative ways to bring in greater amounts of traffic in a short period of time and with little effort.

My email inbox has been flooded with sales letters promoting some automated software or seldom used secret that promises an explosion of website visitors within 30 days. The disturbing part of all this is that it goes against the teaching of our early years; that nothing good comes easy and there is no quick path to building a successful business. As a result of these promises of abundant website traffic and exploding sales figures, many have abandoned those time tested methods of attracting real targeted website visitors that are prepared to take some kind of action. Keep in mind that website traffic isn't something that you can just get, but visitors will come to your website when you have something to provide, enticing them to click on your link.

Too many people are cashing in on a person's desire to get to the top without much effort by offering some really useless website marketing techniques that could actually kill their search engine rankings. The fact is that these are nothing more than 'Marketing Fads', that may produce some huge results in the beginning, but when the newness wears off their effectiveness will fade away forever just like the telephone booth.

Remember when pop-ups and pop-under advertising came out years ago? This was the hottest marketing tool since the time of placing fliers on cars in parking lots. However, when people around the world started using pop-ups to promote their websites there were windows popping up every time you visited and exited a website. Internet users worldwide got so sick of all those pop-up windows that someone invented pop-up killer software. The search engines even started penalizing websites that were using pop-up scripts and soon after that method of website promotion faded away.

I will attempt to identify and explain some of these useless website promotion techniques that should be avoided at all cost. Using some of these bad website marketing techniques could certainly kill your search engine rankings.

Automatic Search Engine Submission Services

These free search engine submission websites allow you to put in your URL, keywords and a description of your website. You then click Submit believing that your website is on its way to being indexed on thousands of search engines. Not so! First of all, the major search engines require manual submission by hand and even implement coding script to prevent auto submission. Secondly, when you click on that Submit button you have no idea where your website link will end up going. Your website link could be automatically posted to illegal or international directory websites that are nothing but a colony of spam links. If Google crawls your website and finds out that you have links to your website coming from other websites with rotten content, then your website will pay the price in low rankings.

There is absolutely no substitute for manually forwarding your websites to the search engines. You will have complete control over where your link is going, and the search engines will automatically crawl your website to get your title and description.

Auto Submission to Directories and FFA sites

You may have seen those places that claim you can blast your website to over 2 million websites and directories. As a general rule, please stay away from anyone that uses the word 'Blast' because this is just another way of saying Spam. It sounds like you are literally placing your link on millions of other websites and getting tons of instant backlinks to your website. Those FFA or Free For All websites are nothing but a link farm containing links from sites with bad or irrelevant content. The search engines won't ever see your website as being respectable enough to rank high in the search results if it is affiliated with that type of environment.

Lead Generation Software

I once got an email that said, "Héllo Webmaster, My name is John. I have been searching the Internet for some business opportunities and came across your website. I just wanted to know if you are still in business today. Please email me at this_email@emailaddress.com and let me know. Thank you."

I replied to the person giving them more information about one of my websites. That particular email was forgotten until I got a few other emails with the same content from different names and email addresses. This matter sparked my curiosity and prompted me to do some further investigation to find out why these emails turned up so frequently.

I discovered that this was the work of lead generation software that extracts website links and email addresses from the Internet for any category. You just type the keyword in the search box and the software literally pulls in millions of email addresses. The software even allows you to email all those addresses. On the surface it appears to be the perfect way to put your website link in front of millions of people in the same industry as you.

This has the look and smell of spam, but because the one sending the email does not attempt to sell you anything, it's not quite spam. This marketing technique is not very effective because the email is generic, impersonal and did not give the reader a reason to respond. Your emails should speak to a person's needs and not just at them. Readers respond to emails if you find a way to reach their interests, giving them a reason to take action.

Backlink Generating Software

Google loves websites that have lots of quality backlinks, considering such links votes on the importance of those sites. Somebody got this crazy idea to automate the link building that Google loves, hoping to get huge numbers of valuable links and move to the top of the search engine results. Google has now gotten smart and has found to way to detect how you are getting your backlinks and even the speed at which you are getting them. So, if you are still buying links or using software to get instant backlinks, then chances are Google will find out and penalize your website. Nothing can substitute for writing valuable content that will automatically attract quality backlinks.

Automated Article Submission and Article Spinning

Writing high quality articles is a great way to attract targeted visitors to your website. Again, someone invented a way to automate this process as well. They came out with article submission software that they claim will automatically send your written articles to hundreds or even thousands of dírectories. There is even software that will take one written article, spin the title and words around, and send them to more directories. This software sells like hotcakes because people don't want to do the labor intensive work of writing their own articles and sending them manually to article dírectories.

The real, authentic article directories that can syndicate your articles are getting smart and have installed a special code that disallows auto submission of articles. They have also installed a special script that can detect articles that have been spun off from the original. Most of them manually approve articles before they are published in their directory and can easily detect duplicate and spinned content.

Conclusion

Widespread use of these automated website marketing techniques has taken away the need to apply really genuine website promotion that gets real results and replaced it with push-button marketing. You may see some quick and positive results, but only for a short period of time. Treat your website like an infant; give it lots of attention, feed it some healthy content, protect it from dangerous spam activity and let it grow naturally over time.

In this blog post, I'm going to tell you a simple method on how to write a SEO optimized post on your blog. I'm going to make it very simple, and it will help you a lot if you're a beginner in blogging.

If you're an experienced blogger, this info might not be new to you, as you might already been implementing SEO strategies to your blog. Nevertheless, enjoy reading this post too.

I used a very simple plan to SEO optimized my blog posts most of the time, and I can say I've been getting great results from my SEO efforts. I got people calling me to ask about my business. I got partnerships through bloggers who found me on Google. So let me share with you what I did.

1. Pick Your Keyword.

You can search for high demand keywords using Google Keyword Tool. Pick keywords that are more targeted instead of general ones. Example of General Keyword = "Compensation Plan". Example of Targeted Keyword = "Best MLM Compensation Plan In The World".

It is easier to rank for keywords that are more targeted than general keywords. The keyword that you have searched and wanted to use, will be your main keyword.

2. Put Your Keyword In Your URL Post Permalink.

In every blog post, you'll have to insert your blog post permalink.

For example, I'm using 'seo optimized posts' as my permalink. Put only the main keyword you want to optimized. Try not to put the whole title into as the permalink.

3. Insert Your Main Keyword Into Your Title. As Front As Possible.

Put it at the front, then create a attention-grabbing blog post title too. For example, "Best MLM Compensation Plan - Where To Find It?"

4. Adding Main Keyword Into Post Content

Include your main keyword in your first 50-100 words.

Then for the rest of the passage, do not mass-spam your main keyword. It is highly recommended that you only add in 2-3 main keywords in your passage. Add one at the beginning, one at the center, and one nearing the end of the post.

* Mass spamming or repetition your main keyword may get your blog post penalized by Google. You don't need a 100 repetition of your main keyword to get ranked by Google.

* Write for Human first, Spiders second. Insert your main keyword appropriately in your post, and make your post readable. Don't write for the sake of getting page ranked, and forget about the real human reading your post.

5. Link your Main Keyword To A URL.

Do link your main keyword in your blog post at least once to a URL. Of course, you would want to link that keyword to a relevant url of yours. But you may also want to link it out to others' urls.

6. Use All-In-One SEO Plugin.

If you're in WordPress, you would have used this plugin called All-In-One SEO, which helped you a lot to rank your blog post in search engines. There are 3 sections you have to fill in.

7. Publish and Ping

Publish your post, and then Ping it using Ping-o-matic to inform search engines about your latest post. They will then send out their 'spiders' to look for your articles.

Ping every time you publish your blog post too.

Enter Title of your blog post, the URL of your blog post, and RSS feed of your blog.

Then Select all the Ping services, and then Ping It!

That is it!

This is just the basics of writing a SEO Optimized post if you're new to blogging. There are of course many advanced SEO tricks and strategies that can help you optimized your post further. And i will touch on those next time.

As you sit down to write a blog you need to ask yourself - who is going to be reading this and how can I help them? As I have mentioned in several of my blog posts the trick is not to create something with the intent to "make" it go viral. The trick is to create a blog that contains valuable information and is well written and then it will go viral. This same principle applies when looking to add to your readers' interaction. Interaction increases continued readership.

Target Your Audience

I have a good fríend who owns a helicopter flight school and when he sits down to blog he is communicating to an entirely different audience than you or I may be intending to communicate with.

With this in mind make sure that you are targeting the correct audience. If your blog is geared toward an audience looking for information on kite building, you won't want to write a post that directs most of its attention to model airplane building. You may want to write a blog comparing the similarities and differences between the two, but the main goal of the blog post should be appealing to your readers' main interests.

You may want to write down some questions that you would be interested to know the answers to if you were new to the niche which you are blogging in and answer those in a blog post or two. Make sure that your blog posts do not wander from the main subject. The more on target your posts are, the more likely your readers are to return to your blog and share it with others they know. Blogs are meant to be dedicated to one subject such as professional networking, vintage car restoration or triathlon training.

I would like to leave you with one last thought when targeting your audience in your blog posts. It is a good idea to re-read your blog posts from the perspective of a reader while in the editing process. Make sure that it captures your attention. You want to be sure to give complete thoughts in your writing. Give your readers some food for thought to spark their own ideas and comments on your blog.

Give Them Your Best Information

Your reader needs to be motivated to be engaged with your blog post. After reading your blog post the visitor should have the desire to comment and share your blog. Why? Because it had valuable information. It was not a sales pitch and it was well written. I am an advocate of giving some of your best content away for nothing. If you have captured your readers' attention and have given them some quality information, they are much more likely to share your content.

Have you discovered something incredible in your niche lately? Your reader will probably want to know about this information as well. Consider what you would want to get out of reading a blog and make sure that those goals are met in your writing. If you are giving great information in your blogs, your readers will literally beg for more. Getting your readers to ask you for more is the goal of writing in the first place and a validation that you are writing something that they want to read and are actively seeking.

I recently read a blog from Brian Solis called 21 Rules of Engagement. It was a summary of part of his new book, Engage. Not only did I feel like I was getting quality information and a great preview of his book, but it also made me want to go out and purchase his book immediately. I thought that this information he was giving away for nothing was already valuable so I should go and find what else he has to offer. This is an excellent strategy and very effective to create continued readership whether the future readings are free or not.

Do Something About It

At the end of each blog post use a call to action. Ask your readers to comment on what they think about the specific topic. You can even reward them for doing so. For example another buddy of mine posted on Facebook that whoever commented on a blog post he had just posted on his MyMark profile page would get a free copy of his e-book. I am sure he had people read his blog that normally may not have, but with this kind of reward they took the time. The blog needs to be good enough that they are happy they spent the time reading it; if this happens they will come back again and again. Even without a specific reward being offered, the reward has now become the quality information you are giving them.

One of the most valuable parts of a blog is the comment section. Usually if one person has a question so do many others. This is a great place for readers to ask questions, answer questions and provide their own tips and tricks that you may not have had time to cover in your blog. You should be asking or telling your readers to leave their comments and make sure that the call to action invites more than just, "great blog." It's nice to be validated, but it's more important to provide readers with further information.

Finally, when leaving a call to action make sure that you act on it as well. If you told your readers to go find something new to learn and write about it in the comments make sure that you are doing this as well. Make sure that you are responding to comments and not just reading them. Continue the interaction in your comment section so that your readers will feel like you are offering two-way communication rather than just talking at them. Any webinar presenter will tell you that one of the most valuable parts of every webinar is the questions and comments part at the end of the webinar. Don't skip this step. It will likely ensure your success as a blogger and a brand builder.

Everyone would love to stand out from other marketers. Knowing how to make money with online videos gives you a massive edge over the regular marketer. If you know how to create videos using some of the tools readily available at your disposal, you should be able to outdo many of your competitors using video marketing.

Videos are just an excellent way for you to create immediate traffic and build credibility. Thousands of visitors may go to your site if your video becomes viral. By just creating an interesting 3-minute clip, and uploading it to video-sharing sites, you could get instant exposure and make money with online videos. You can easily develop these skills at this once you are involved and willing to work.

Most of the beginners find it difficult to find an answer to this - How do you make money with online videos the right way? Don't worry, That is why I am here to help you out.

First of all, know that marketing videos isn’t one of the loved practices by marketers because it involves more effort, video know-how, and perhaps a likeable personality.

All of these qualities can be learned and developed, but some marketers are too lazy. Video creation can be outsourced to freelancers, but it may cost a lot, and it won’t have the same personal touch as when you’re the one talking.

The advantages of using video presentation are good from the side of building credibility and gaining trust from your viewers. With that as a fact, don’t be afraid to make videos from scratch in order to gain market territory, even if it’s your first time. You’ll find it exciting to do once you’ve got the momentum going.

One of the steps for effective video creation so you can make money with online videos is to make a script. A video script is nothing else than a piece of paper that has everything written from start to finish of your video.

You start the video and put your written script either below or on top of the camera, you read the script and you speak every word that you wrote on it.

The key when taking such action is reading the script very closely to the camera, so your eyes are glued in front of the camcorder lens. Usually the great majority of those who see you on video won’t even notice you are actually reading a script.

The ultimate key for the successful creation and finish of your video depends on having a clear voice and tone, and the way you communicate the message. Make sure you impart your message in an interesting, curiosity-arousing, or controversial way.

If the tone and the way you say things on your video are effective to your targeted audience, you should have a video that creates great credibility and opens trust from the recipient’s end.

So could you make money with online videos immediately? Most likely yes, if you already have an established website with a powerful marketing system in place!

Should you use video marketing as part of your promotional efforts to look for more clients? Definitely! If your purpose is to build your credibility, earn more trust, and connect with your audience, then video marketing is an excellent option.

Is there an easy way to upload your videos to a variety of video-sharing sites? Fortunately, there is. It’s called Tubemogul. Simply sign up for an account. At first, you have to register for each video sites if you haven’t done yet. But after you’ve signed up, you can save their login details in tubemogul, so you can easily upload them simultaneously from then on.

Another important tip to make money with online videos is to put them on your own site or blog. Video makes you more “real” to people. Use the embed code provided by youtube on your site, because every visitor that watches your video would add to your view counts. You’re probably already aware of the law of social proof – The more views your video has, the more people will watch it because they tend to follow the crowd.

Is video necessary for your business? No, there are many other methods you can use to promote your sites. However, video marketing is one of the most effective tools to use. So if you want to get the upper hand on this competitive marketplace, you should consider video marketing. It’s time to make money with online videos!

Creating social media website profiles aimed at strengthening your personal brand is an incredibly important aspect of building your online presence. Building a strong online reputation will help you score more gigs, media interviews, conference speaking pitches, and more.

Even if you are working with a company, your clients and potential clients are inevitably going to want to know who you are and where is the first place they will check you out? They will probably search for you on Google. The idea is to control the top ten search results for your name to ensure that they are relevant and most importantly, positive. The last thing you want is for a client to find search results on the front page of Google that say negative things about you.

The easiest way to control your top ten search results is through building your online presence via social media and blogging. Some of the most important online tools you can use are Twitter, LinkedIn, video websites and social networking sites like Facebook. If you have an unusual name, it will be easy for you to control the top search results for your name but if you have a very common name, try using your middle initial as way to distinguish yourself.

Blogging

One of the most powerful ways to build authority within your niche and boost your personal brand is via blogging. If you consistently provide great content and expert opinions, you can build a very successful personal brand through blogging. Make sure to link to a profile page with your bio and name on all of your blog posts to increase search rankings for your name. Write guest blog posts for other blogs in your niche to enhance your online reputation and reach a wider audience.

Twitter

Use Twitter to contribute valuable links and connect with others in your niche. If you build up a large following of relevant users and stay active in the Twitter community, you should expect your Twitter page to rank highly in the search results. If potential clients are looking for information about you and find your Twitter account full of relevant links and expert advice, it is going to go a long way in building your online reputation.

LinkedIn

LinkedIn is a business social media networking site that allows you to share your career history with others. It is a great way to build work contacts and allows potential clients to learn more about your qualifications, educational background, and so on.

Video Websites

If you’ve spoken at a conference or have made an online video presentation, upload it to a site like Vimeo or YouTube. When someone searches for more information about you and finds a relevant video you made, your reputation will be enhanced in the eyes of the searcher. Make sure to use your name in the video headline so the video is optimized for your personal brand.

Social Networking Sites

Now that you have filled most of the front page Google results with positive listings, you can work on adding a few neutral listings such as profiles for social networking sites like Facebook and Flickr. Better yet, find a social networking site that is relevant to your niche (i.e. Sphinn for search marketers) and actively contribute to it so you can show clients that you keep up with the latest news and trends in your field.

Keep these tips in mind in order to dominate the Google search results for your name. If you have quite a few online personalities and would prefer that some of them were not visible to your clients and potential clients, make sure to use different screen names! Optimize anything work-related with your real name to ensure that the search listings that show up when people search for you are positive and help to boost your online reputation.

Are you an Internet marketer? Perhaps you are just aspiring to become one. If you are doing business online, then maybe you are looking for ways to boost your website's traffic or have it more visible to the search engines as well as to your targeted customers.

But, are your methods and efforts fruitful? Have you reached your expectations? Have you accomplished something out of doing the things you thought can help you become successful?

Even though you may think that you're only good in failing or that you have only wasted your time and effort for nothing, there are still so many things left for you to do.

When it comes to making money online or promoting your business on the web, the chances and opportunities are always countless. All you have to do is be keen and determined in finding effective and suitable ways to prop up your website or the business itself.

You should never close your doors to possibilities as you can always find ways to succeed or stay on top. Online marketing is about trial and error, application of the best means and maintenance and continuous search and learning as well as practice and application.

You should always keep your mind open and make yourself busy discovering methods, information and other interesting stuffs. You must come out of your shell and explore as much as you can. Have yourself trained in a regular manner so as to sharpen your ideas and skills.

So to be able to supply yourself with the appropriate, effective and updated skills or information with regards to SEO and other related things, you must take part in an SEO training or other means of gathering helpful stuffs for the sake of your business and online growth. Participate in an Internet marketing class and see to it that you get into the best group.

You can even get a hold of free stuffs. Many expert marketers are sharing their ideas for free. Search for free internet marketing courses or SEO trainings where you can possibly get the best of everything for free. It doesn't matter if you have to pay for the training so long as you can guarantee yourself that you can learn more valuable and effective techniques.

Roam around the web as much as you can. Go from one website to another so you can gather sufficient resources and references. Find loads of internet marketing courses especially those offered for free by some experts.

You should be able to determine the reputation or credibility of a particular website offering SEO training or internet marketing class. The least that you would want to is to participate in some form of a scam or something that would only waste your time, effort and even money.

Nowadays, you can certainly get a hold of free stuffs provided you actively participate or visit their website. Of course, it will always be a win-win situation.

Ask around: either online or personally. Perhaps you have friends who are also making money online or doing business through the Internet. Gather information as much as you can. Compare services or offers. You should pay attention to remarkable benefits or things you can get during the training and after that.

Inquire as many questions as you can to the website offering SEO training or free Internet marketing course. Ask who would train, the modules involved and other necessary information to determine which training is truly worth everything.

It pays to go for trainings rendered by seo experts or Internet marketing gurus. Pay if you have to. That is why you need to make a thorough research so you can compare and choose wisely.

Recently, I came across an article about promoting a website using blog advertising. I was too influenced by the article that I wanted to share it with my friends and readers.

Link : http://www.web-articles.info/e/a/title/Promoting-a-Website-Using-Blog-Advertising

It is a well written article stating about how blog advertising has become an important source of traffic to any website. Nowadays, blogs are maintained by even companies for the sole purpose of advertising. It improves the amount of traffic to their company website.

It talks about the difference a well maintained blog can make to an upcoming business. People use blogs to demonstrate how their products works. It is also used as a portal for providing their reviews on the items. In case of electronic goods, customers can be provided with specifications and advantages of their products over other competing products. This can in turn help out their business in a very useful way. Larger number of reviews about any products increases its overall credibility. This will also be seen in the number of goods being sold.

The article also compares different styles of advertising that a company adopts to promote their website. The strategies are compared as well. As a reader, I hate reading plainly written ads about a product. This view is well known to the writers and the companies as well. Through their blogs, they usually advertise themselves in a way rather than their products. They talk about their accomplishments in the field and their upcoming events. They also share the testimonials by their customers. This technique is of better influence as the credibility of a company as such increases rather than any single product. The articles even says that readers like to know more about the company as such rather than their products to ensure the quality and credibility of the product.

The article goes on describe about paid blog advertising. Companies turn blogs with great traffic to their advantage. They hire writers of these blogs to write about the companies in their blogs. The companies turn these blogs into source of traffic to them. They know the shortcuts. Don't they?

The article also talks about self promotion for blogs. Ad revenue is one of the major sources of money for blog writers and to increase the revenue, the blogger needs more traffic and for that one has to promote his own blog. Articles about business niche and even articles bought from other writers can indeed work in your favor for getting more readers. Backlinks are an important part of search engine rankings and your posts are placed higher if you have more backlinks than others. Blogger should write posts in such a manner that it invites a discussion and also a special mention in other blogs whom you discuss with.

Blog advertising not only improves the traffic of whom the advertisement is of. It also improves traffic to your website as the discussion on business niche always invites many readers that you may have never thought of even opening your website.

Just how important is spelling and grammar in online content?

It is well known that not everybody in the world speaks English as their primary language. It is also well known that while the first fact is true, the vast majority of all websites... and especially websites about Internet Marketing are written in English. Not everybody can be an expert in English but you really should consider the importance of spelling and grammar in your online content.

Would you allow an auto repairman to work on your car after he described such technical issues as "fixing the thingy there" or talking to you about "doo-hickers" and "thingamabobs"? The fact is that if you are going to allow someone to work on your car, you want them to know a carburetor from distributor and you want to know what they are working on and without a bunch of generic talk or worse yet... gobbledy-gook involved in the discussion.

In all likelihood, you would probably leave running and never go back. It may be that they are the greatest mechanic in the world but you would never know that because they could not establish your trust. How many sales pages have you seen where you were almost compelled to buy something that sounded really good but had second thoughts?

I personally know of one very admirable product that is nearly complete in every sense of the word and it really is an awesome product. The sales page is long, involved, detailed and laid out in all the right ways according to the copywriting gurus but conversion rates still hover somewhere around one to two percent. Why is that? Well it could be because it is an expensive product but somehow I doubt that is the case.

It happens to be a very in-depth and informative informational product for Internet Marketing that leads you by the hand from start to finish where you can get enough going to at least get started creating your virtual online empire. While it is actually an incredible product and you would definitely be interested if you saw it, most people will never actually see it.

The fact remains that when somebody is going to "plunk down" their hard-earned cash for an informational product, they want information. "Well Duh!" you say. Still, how are you ever going to trust someone to provide you with valuable and timely information that will actually help you if they can not even get a sales page up without a massive number of errors?

Are you going to trust them or are you going to run... whether consciously or not, because you are just not convinced that they know what they are talking about?

Nearly everybody is judgmental to a degree. If a fat, smelly, homeless looking person cut in front of you in the line you would be much more likely to get upset than you would if an extremely attractive person graciously intervened and thanked you for your kindness, beguiling you with their charm and good looks.

Facts are facts and no amount of discussion can change reality. The same principles hold true in website copy. If your website is full of errors that could have easily been avoided, it is costing you more than just a little lost ad revenue.

How important is spelling and grammar in online content? Do you want your readers coming back from more or running away without even giving you a chance?
