India had never produced a gold medal before and neither did India ever win more than 1 medal in the Olypics before. Abhinav Bindhra changed the former while it was now turn of Sushil Kumar to change the second.
Sushil Kumar had 3 matches withinin 45 minutes including the match for the bronze medal. He had a bruise on his head. The match was tied and it needed a tie breaker to decide the bronze medal winner. The tireness creeping on him, hopes stumbling in the stands, heart beating like they want to junp out, stakes raised to maximum, 100million beliefs looking upon him, It was the time to deliver and he just did it perfectly. He became the second Indian wrestler ever to win a bronze medal at the Olympics. The first one was won by his own guru in 1952.
The traditional form of wrestling, "Kusti" is being practised within India for the past 5000 years and it would take such miraculous performances from some of the wrestlers to win a medal on the international stage is very pathetic.
To add to that the situation of wrestling in India which is more pathetic, take the case of Sushil Kumar itself. He doesn't even have a job though representing India in the biggest international stage. Doesn't the government know who are atleast representing India in the international stage or do they ignore them. How can sportspersons except cricketers go unnoticed in India? No one has an answer to this.
After the victory, Sushil said that it was 10 years of shear hard work that got him a medal for India. He also wished that probably his victory would change the mindset of Indians to recognise sportspersons other than cricketers.
But today is a day to remember for sure, not just because an Indian wrestler is being recognised but because of the fact that a cricket match won by India was overlooked by the newspapers and TV channels to celebrate victory of Sushil Kumar with their Headlines.
Lets believe this is just the start,The BEST is yet to come
They said cricket takes time and could not be filled within a 2 week agenda
We brought in the 20-20 and it takes less time and also adds flavour to the game
They said cricket is boring
IPL showed the world it wasn't
They said there aren't enough teams to participate
We have more then minimum number of nations signed with ICC and probably inclusion in Olympics would further help in improving the audience for Cricket as well as bringing in more and more nations in line with the game
Now its all set. Cricket Legends like Steve Waugh, Adam Gilchrist, Sourav Ganguly, Kumar Sangakkara, Ricky Ponting, Misbah-ul-Haq, Shoaib Malik and many more have come up with the initiative, it is us who can show them that we want Cricket in Olympics.
It takes 7 years for an International Olympic Committee(IOC) approved game to be included in Olympics. Cricket is not even approved by IOC. IOC need 10 billion votes to approve Cricket. For Cricket in 2020 Olympics, number of votes have to be reached within 2012 Olympics. Cast your vote and also ask your friends to vote.

10.8 and 'X' mark will never be forgotten ever by any Indian who has seen his performance either in real or in television.
10.8 at the final shot to win a gold medal is quite something like running upstairs 10 floors and stopping and having a shot. His heart would have been so soundy that it may have frightened anyone else but him.
The scene when Indian anthem went off at Beijing 2008 is unforgettable. Bindhra stood emotionless while defending champion though won a silver medal at his home ground broke into tears.
His statements after he won the gold medal that inspired me the most were :
He has made India and all Indians proud and I believe he stirs in belief in all Indians that we can do it better than others if we are determined.
I hope this starts a campaign "India 2020 : India to be among top 20 in medal tally by 2020 Olympics"
He has dome something more than what Kapil's Devils done to cricket in India and before the end of the day, those who said India wont win anything in Olympics, are talking about other Gold medal hopes of India in this Olympics.
"This might be the First but surely not the Last"
